I need a new computer, help? :)?
So recently my computer just went goodbye! haha.
And I’m looking to buy a new one, and soon. I just don’t know anything about computers.
If someone could please help me, that would be great ![]()
I’m looking for a computer that can run Sims 3 and/or WoW well.
On occasion I do game. So I want a computer or laptop that can handle it.
If you could just tell me what size RAM to look for and Video Quality and stuff. I can find the computer on my own. Or you could send me links of computers you think are good for me.
I take A LOT of pictures so I want space for pictures, videos, and my reports for school. And again gaming.
You could email me
pandakisses80@yahoo.com
if you need more information.
Or have other ideas or something!
I just need a new one. I’m in the price range of 500 ish. I know thats cheap for a nice computer, but im not made of money

I don’t know if you want a laptop or desktop
Desktops offer more power tho
I’ve got a soft spot for Dell, if we’re talking PC. I don’t know about ram size, or anything, but I’ve been looking for one too. I heard good things about the Dell Studio XPS 7100, and the Studio XPS 8100. The problem is that they are definitely not 500. More like twice that.
But if you’re looking for the right one, you could try reviewers like:
http://www.pcmag.com/
http://www.desktopreview.com/
http://www.pcworld.com/
http://reviews.cnet.com/
Just to name a few. I usually find that they’re pretty helpful. Also, you can search most of them by price and rating.
I liked the Dell Studio XPS because you could get 1 TB of space on it. But also, for space, you could put files like pictures on an external hard drive. The problem is, external hard drives tend to die every 3-6 years, if they even last that long. And sometimes the data can’t be recovered. You’d have to back everything up on disks or something, just to be sure. But as long as you know that they don’t last forever, and take precautions, they are an easy way to store for your excess files in an easily retrievable place. I don’t know the best hard drives out there, though. My 1 TB Seagate hard drive died prematurely on me, and I still don’t know if everything on there was lost, so be careful. The prices on hard drives are getting more affordable, but be careful that you’re getting what you want. Some of them just automatically back everything up on your computer, but don’t offer extra storage.
Also, I heard that gaming is no good on a laptop. They just don’t have the ability to cool themselves down, and function normally. It makes sense to me, since mine gets all hot and bothered just with movies. And I can’t play Sims at all for that reason. But PCs have fans in them, and in more space inside the actual machine.
Personally, for gaming (in addition to multi-media), I’d go with a PC. Macs tend to deviate to far from the basics for them to function well with games like Sims or WoW (I’ve never played it, but I’ve heard).
Anyway, good luck.
