i want a fairly cheap gaming computer (£400-£500) i need help of finding i want a computer that runs games like the sims 3 mw 2 and newish game smoothly it would be helpful if you could send me some ideas on what computer to get thanks (uk shops only)

Your not going to like the answer i can give you. Gaming computers run at chiepest around 800 dollars. Your best option would be to upgrade your current computer. If you Buy a new video card and proccessor It should pick it up a lot!.

So my laptop has become really really slow. It seems like it has a bug and nothing will really open or anything. I have another laptop and the same thing has happened to me and I brought it into a computer store and they told me it would cost €120 to fix.
I couldn’t afford that as Im only a student so my brother was able to fix it. He basically took everything off the computer and put the stuff back on bit by bit I think its called rebooting or something! I dont have anything I need on the computer so I dont care if information is lost but I want to fix it and I don’t know how and my brother is away. Help! How do I do this?

You woud need to use an Operating System disc.
You woud have to find one which is the same OS as your current system, for example Vista Home Basic, use Vista Home Basic, XP Home, use XP Home etc.
You just insert the disc, restart your pc and run through the instructions.
You may also want to downoad drivers for things ike Wireess cards, Ethernet ports etc.
If it asks you for a serial code, this will be under your laptop on a green sticker, just retype that code, although the Hard Drive should really hold that code.

My boyfriend knows everything about computers and is practically a computer genius. But he works at a crappy factory job. He wants to get a job dealing with computers. Does he need to get a degree first? Or can he just go to computer repair shops or pc/tech places in town and look for jobs there?

He may be better off just starting his own side business because most computer tech support jobs do want to see academic credentials.

Once he builds up his own clientele and is known to be competent and professional, between word of mouth and having some business cards made up, he may be able to support himself and do it full-time after word gets out.

Make sure all your credit card info is completely filled out and online buying process can be longer than buying in stores make sure you get to the receit page or check for error pages.

I’m running Windows XP on a Compaq Presario 6350 us. When I go to the HP site to e-mail their tech support, there’s a button that says "Detect" for detecting the computer’s serial number. When I press this, a dialog box appears for about 20 seconds and then a second "Security Alert" box appears that gives me an error message saying "Website has attempted to access system information".

Is there a way to allow HP to read my system infomation in order to see my computer’s serial number?

I have done this before, but I suspect security updates I’ve made the past few years prevent it now.

Connect to site with Internet Explorer, when security alert pop up right click on it and give it Allow/install activeX.

I recently rebooted my computer and had to install everything. But i don’t have any of the CD’s. The speakers on my computer are hooked up to the computer but there is no sound at all coming from the computer. Please help. Oh and i have a dell computer with compatible dell speakers.
the computer isn’t on mute and on the control panel under sounds and audio devices its says "NO DEVICE" but the speakers are on and connected to the computer, however there is no sound

This is a common problem once the OS has been installed or formatted.

1. Click the volume control on the Task Bar. Make sure the Mute is unchecked. If the speaker icon is not present it may due to no sound driver is installed.

2. Make sure your antivirus is installed & up to date
• Right click My Computer
• Manage
• Device Manager
• Sounds & Audio Controls
If there is a yellow question mark next to one or more of the drivers, then right click & "Update Driver"
Also check "Other Devices". There may be addition audio drivers within.

3. Speaker Settings
• Start
• Control Panel
• Sounds & Audio Devices
• Volume
• Speaker Settings
• Advanced
• Speaker Setup
• Desktop Stereo Speakers
• Apply
• OK

right click on the song and press open or play. if itunes is not the default music player, right click and press open with, then choose itunes.
